One of Joe Biden’s biggest defenders in Congress allegedly can’t pay his bills, despite being one of the richest people in the House of Representatives.
Rep. Daniel Goldman, who assured the public that Biden was merely “talking about the weather” with Hunter Biden’s business associates, was recently slapped with a lawsuit from his landlord, who claims that the congressman owes a considerable amount in back rent.
The New York Post writes:
New York Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman — heir to the Levi Strauss & Co. fortune and one of the wealthiest members of Congress — has been sued for skipping out on four months of rent on his posh Tribeca pad, new court papers show.
Goldman, 47, and his wife, Corinne Goldman, were named in a two-page summons filed in Manhattan Supreme Court Monday by landlords Jason and Natasha Gilbert, who claim the pol and his spouse owe $180,000 in rent on the 3,818-square-foot luxury condo.
The congressman — whose personal net worth has been pegged at upwards of $253 million — allegedly hasn’t paid the $45,000-a-month rent on the apartment at 60 Collister Street since August, according to the file.
Goldman, who represents Lower Manhattan and part of Brooklyn, has denied the accusations, telling Crains New York Business, “These allegations are baseless. The congressman has always paid his rent on time and in full.”
In November, the New York Congressman made news when he appeared to claim that former President Donald Trump needed to be assassinated during an interview with MSNBC.
Appearing Inside With Jen Psaki, Goldman said that Trump’s “rhetoric is really getting dangerous, more and more dangerous. And we saw what happened on January 6. When he uses inflammatory rhetoric now, and his recent Truth Social posts, is incredibly, incredibly scary for anyone that might be trying to work in government.
“It is just unquestionable at this point that that man cannot see public office again. He is not only unfit. He is destructive to our democracy, and he has to be eliminated.”
