Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy was called “scum” by former UN ambassador Nikki Haley when he mentioned her daughter at the third Republican presidential debate on stage in Miami on Wednesday night.
“In the last debate, she made fun of me for actually joining TikTok while her own daughter was actually using the app for a long time. So you might want to take care of your family first.” Ramaswamy said.
The audience at the discussion began to jeer at Ramaswamy during the exchange.
“Leave my daughter out of your voice. You’re just scum.” Haley said in response.
As the GOP contenders for president engaged in heated debate over foreign policy, TikTok became a major talking issue. The software has drawn criticism, with many advocating for a US ban.
Together with three other Republican candidates for the White House, Haley and Ramaswamy took the platform in Miami: Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, Gov.
Ron DeSantis of Florida, and Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey. Former President Trump, the front-runner in the GOP, was not present.
