According to a new report, an investigator for Georgia’s Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis reportedly accidentally fired and injured herself with a firearm.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office stated on Friday that it was compiling information on a “shooting incident” at the Fulton County Courthouse and that no active threat existed.

In a follow-up post to X, an investigator from the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office stated that the gunshot was “an accidental discharge.”

Authorities said the woman had shot herself in the leg, and a deputy provided her aid until paramedics arrived on the scene.

A high-profile investigation into former President Donald Trump has brought Willis and her office increased attention.

Indicted last month as part of a multi-year investigation, Trump and 18 allies are accused of conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

After being apprehended and booked into the Fulton County Jail, the former president was released on a $200,000 bond and his mugshot was released.

In the RICO case, Trump and his co-defendants have pleaded not guilty, and the trials could begin in the midst of the 2024 election cycle.

The former president faces indictments in three additional criminal cases as he bids for reelection to the White House in 2024.
