For his part in the violence in the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, Enrique Tarrio, the former national chairman of the Proud Boys, was reportedly given a 22-year prison term on Tuesday.

The punishment imposed on a defendant from January 6 is the longest ever.

Tarrio and three other members of the extreme right were found guilty of seditious conspiracy.

According to the prosecution, they planned to avert former President Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 election and thwart a peaceful transfer of power.
