Multiple teens have now reportedly been detained, according to California law enforcement officials, in connection with a violent mob assault on three active duty marines.
It took place on May 26 and was caught on camera.
The assault on three Marines near the San Clemente Pier on Friday night is thought to have involved four male juveniles and one female juvenile, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, which made the announcement on Tuesday night.
Charges of assault with a dangerous object other than a handgun brought against all five led to their booking into the Orange County Juvenile Hall. Misdemeanor assault and battery charges were brought against four additional people.

According to reports, the incident started when the Marines were going along the pier and saw a sizable gathering of teenagers lighting off fireworks.
The gang reportedly attacked the marines tried to tell them to stop shooting off fireworks.
Video of the event shows the adolescents bashing and kicking two of the marines’ friends as they lay on the ground with their heads covered until two onlookers suddenly emerge and break up the fight.
