Linda Yaccarino, the head of worldwide advertising for NBCUniversal, has reportedly left the company to become Twitter’s new CEO.
Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, confirmed the hiring in a tweet on Friday.

The news comes a day after Musk announced on Twitter that he will stand down as CEO of the social media platform, but did not name the new CEO.
Musk stated in a tweet that the employee will begin work in around six weeks.
After joining NBCUniversal in 2011, Yaccarino quickly rose through the ranks to become the company’s global advertising division president.
The advertising executive was scheduled to attend NBCUniversal’s Upfront event on Monday in Radio City in New York.
Upfront is the sales presentation that NBCUniversal and its media rivals give to the advertising industry each year in May.
