According to a new report released on Wednesday, CNN intends to offer former top White House reporter Kaitlan Collins a new contract as well as coveted new primetime 9 p.m. schedule slot.

Collins, a favorite of CNN CEO Chris Licht and a former co-host with Don Lemon, may take up the position as early as next week.

The news broke only hours before former president Donald Trump was to appear in a town hall meeting with Collins in New Hampshire, where Trump is running for the GOP nominee in the 2024 presidential election.

The event, which was broadcast live across the country, potentially made the 31-year-old newscaster a household name.

After 17 years at the network, Lemon was dismissed last month after a string of controversies, including sexism allegations.

Chris Cuomo’s position would be taken by Collins if she accepts the offer.

After it was discovered that Cuomo was supporting his brother, the then-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, in his efforts to refute sexual harassment claims brought by former employees, the failing cable news organization sacked him in late 2021.
