Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), a member of the far-Left Democratic Socialists of America, reportedly had a meltdown directed at Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) on Wednesday during a rant about gun control during which he accused Republicans of being “cowards.”
Massie calmly responded that just as members of Congress have protection, children in schools need protection as well. Bowman’s comments came in the wake of the school shooting that took place in Nashville.
Bowman is on record as having made a number of remarks in the past advocating for the defunding of the police, despite the fact that he is rumored to have requested a specialized police detail to guard his house in 2021.
The contentious exchange between Representatives Jamaal Bowman (Democrat-New York) and Thomas Massie (Republican-Kentucky) began when the New York congressman yelled at his Republican colleagues as they left the chamber for not supporting stricter gun control measures in the wake of Monday’s shooting, which claimed the lives of three adults and three children.
The shooting took place at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.
Massie, who is a gun owner and co-chairman of the House Second Amendment Caucus, became interested in Bowman’s rant and soon entered the fray, attempting to reason with Bowman to no avail.
The conversation continued with Massie attempting to convince Bowman that arming teachers may be an effective method of preventing school shootings, but Bowman was having none of it an continued to try and shout Massie down.
Both legislatures attempted to take advantage of the exchange and posted about it on their respective Twitter accounts.
He wanted to discuss solutions to school shootings, but when I offered a solution he began shouting. When he asked for data, I gave him data, but then he just shouted more. Bring facts. There’s never been a school shooting in the hundreds of schools that allow staff to carry. https://t.co/jInj4GHBDL

Republicans won't do SHIT when it comes to gun violence, but try to tell me to calm down.
NO.
We can't calm down. People are dying everyday while we wait. pic.twitter.com/38mYYW9cgs
