According to two new polls, former President Donald Trump leads Gov. Ron DeSantis in a hypothetical GOP presidential primary in 2024.
The polls break a run of harsh post-midterm election polling for the former President.
According to a Politico/Morning Consult survey, 45 percent of primary voters would vote for Trump, who has already confirmed his candidacy, while only 30 percent would vote for DeSantis.
DeSantis has yet to determine if he plans on opposing Trump for the GOP nomination in 2024.
Former Vice President Mike Pence, who has yet to launch a presidential candidacy, finished third in the hypothetical matchup with 7%.
The latest poll comes a day after an Emerson College poll predicted that Trump would defeat DeSantis by a margin of 55 percent to 25 percent.
In spite of the recent good news for Trump, a number of other recent surveys have shown DeSantis topping Trump in a potential 2024 showdown.
For example, a recent poll from Iowa showed DeSantis leading Trump 32 percent to 30 percent, a massive swing toward DeSantis from a similar poll in June of the same year.
